Liquid Collection
A bit about the Milly Swire Liquid Collection
For as long as I can remember I have been drawn to the harmony and rhythms within
nature, such as the patterns waves make in the sand and the bark on trees.
While I was studying jewellery design in Florence, Italy I began to experiment mark
making with wax using a variety of tools to create a surface texture. I am
inspired by the soft, fluid, linear patterns as well as the bold and tactile surface
created unique to wax. I feel the surface contrasts well with the weight and solidness
of the metal when the wax object is cast.
I like also to combine the cast metal ring or pendant with semiprecious stones such
as turquoise, lapis lazuli and tourmaline which accentuates the difference between
the two surfaces and also adding an element of colour to the finished piece. Many
of the stones I use are from Jaipur, India. Whilst travelling around Rajasthan I
was inspired by the colour and more specifically the colour combinations from the
women's saris, the wall paintings and the Indian jewellery itself. I continue to
return to India to source new material and inspiration.
What I feel is very important about the jewellery I make is that no two pieces are
the same. Each mark is made individually and can never be identically repeated this
makes every piece unique.
All commissions are available in 9, 14 or 18 ct white, yellow or rose gold and sterling
